How To Get A (Love) Life - by Rosie Blake

My own copy
Original Cover

The blurb:

Some people book last-minute holidays, walk barefoot in the grass or party on a week night. Not Nicola Brown. Nicola is the kind of girl who double-locks the front door, leaves the plastic covering on new furniture, sticks to a super-strict diet and definitely, absolutely Does Not Date.

Her colleague Caroline – loopy, warm and exasperated by her, knows that Nicola's reluctance to lose control means she's living only half a life. And so she lays down the gauntlet: Nicola must cast aside her hang ups and go on as many dates as it takes to find true love in time for Valentine's Day.

The pick of local men is, quite frankly, a bit rubbish. And there are only three months until February 14th. Surely it's an impossible task? But, as Nicola is about to find out on her dodgy dates, letting go isn't quite as scary as she imagined. In fact, it's rather a lot of fun..

My Opinion:

*Book provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review* Thank you Kerry at Novelicious :)

I’ve heard different opinions about this book, but I didn’t want them to spoil everything for me, so I just saw some ratings.
I enjoyed reading this story from the start, it’s funny, bubbly and light.

Nicola is such a lovely character and I could easily relate to her. In some ways I saw myself in her. Despite her OCD tendencies, Nicola can let go and be funny. We especially get to see that when she takes up Caroline’s challenge. It was such a pleasure to follow her story with lots of LOL moments and funny conversations.

The task now was to find a date for Valentine’s Day and that turns out to be really hard. All her dates are disasters, but so great to read about ;).
Nicola’s brother Mark is so likeable as well and I enjoyed the scenes with him, it was a pleasant change from the other scenes. He’s an awesome brother and always there was his sis.

Then there was James, Nicola’s boss. He had a little mystery about himself, which I really liked and I don’t know why, but I sensed that he could be a guy for Nicola. Not telling you more here though...

I felt that the ending was a little rushed, but still very adorable though and I would have loved to have more details there.

Rosie’s writing is really refreshing, vivid, fun and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to more exciting Rosie Blake stories.
