We’ve Always Got New York – by Jill Knapp

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

The second book in Jill Knapp’s fabulous series about dating in New York picks up after Amalia Hastings returns to Manhattan from her trip to Brazil – and finds that life has indeed gone on without her.
Fresh off the plane, Amalia’s feeling anxious and unresolved; left alone to pick up the pieces and deal with the repercussions of choosing her own path over Michael.
Without an apartment, without a job, and starting to wonder if she’s even without a best friend, she finds herself holding on tightly to the one thing she is familiar with, New York City.
Sometimes you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be…

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

When Jill asked for bloggers to review her newest book, I just at the chance. Her book What Happens To Men When They Move To Manhattan? Has been on my TBR for a while, but I never got round to it. Well it’s the prequel to this story, but you can read this as a stand-alone. I’m really curious about the first part now though...

The book follows the story oft he NYU graduates Oliva and Amalia. Both women share their perspectives, taking turns in the chaps. This was great and gave a good mixture to the story.
I had problems relating to both characters, but that didn’t matter, because Jill included them perfectly in the story and made their feelings and emotions very clear.

Amalia spent her summer in Brazil, now she’s back. Her best friend Cassandra behaves strangely and Amalia decides to live with Olivia at first. The girls go back to Uni and Amelia starts dating gorgeous Hayden, they are good together, one can tell that she feels comfortable with him. But there is still Michael... they had a thing before she left and now she sees him at school everyday and he’s very good friends, with this girl Angela. This just sounded like many surprises to follow... ;)

Oliva on the other hand is happy with her boyfriend Alex. These two were so cute together; I think their scenes were my favourites in this book. And it wouldn’t be a real book without some drama right, they have two huge fights, but they way they make up and their New Year’s Eve together – perfect... Olivia sees herself confronted with her past at one point, which made me understand her better.

Well, Amalia is confused about both men and makes a big mistake... Now she has to decide, which one. The situation with her best friend Cassie, not being there anymore, made things more complicated. I was glad that she Olivia and also her brother there as a support.

There is a huge cliffhanger in the end, I just need to know!!! But that’s what makes the story interesting and exciting. Jill’s writing is fresh, young, open and really down to earth, which I really liked. And the book being set in new York is always a wonderful bonus.
