Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses – by Jenny Hale

My own copy
Original Cover

The blurb:

An uplifting, beautiful story about never letting go of your dreams, the special magic of a family Christmas… and the rush of falling in love under the mistletoe.

Single mother Abbey Fuller loves her family more than anything, and doesn’t regret for a moment having had to put her dreams of being an interior designer on hold. But with her son, Max, growing up, when a friend recommends her for a small design job she jumps at the chance. How hard can it be?

Nick Sinclair needs his house decorated in time for his family’s festive visit – and money is no object. What he doesn’t need is to be distracted from his multi-million dollar business – even if it is Christmas.

When Abbey pulls up to the huge Sinclair mansion, she has a feeling she might be out of her depth. And when she meets the gorgeous, brooding Nicholas Sinclair, she knows that she’s in real trouble…

With the snow falling all around, can Abbey take the chance to make her dreams of being a designer come true? And can she help Nick to finally enjoy the magic of Christmas?

My Opinion:

First of all, I’d just like to say that the cover is absolutely gorgeous, so festive and warm and then the title: perfect for a Christmas book.

Jenny Hale is a wonderful author and I’m always very excited to read her books, she just knows how to write a gripping, magical and unique story.

The story follows single mother Abbey Fuller. Family is very important to her and her son Max is just adorable, I loved him. Abbey cares for Caroline, an elderly lady, but her dream is to be interior designer. I really liked her from the start.

Nick Sinclair is very different from Abbey. He has a lot of money, works all the time and lives in a huge mansion. He barley takes the time to visit his grandmother Carline (yes it’s the same Caroline) and just wants to continue what his now dead father started. His family is coming around Christmas, so he needs someone to decorate the whole house and give each room a unique touch. There is Abbey’s chance.

So, that’s how Nick and Abbey meet and even though they are very different, the sparks between them fly immediately. They had a unique chemistry from the start and I was really excited for something to happen between them. Of course I had to wait for a while, but that’s ok. Them spending time together was a great thing to read about. They just talked and got to know each other better. Abbey was slowly able to crack his shell and learn more about his childhood and past. That made his behaviour more clear to me. Nick changed more and more by spending time with Abbey and Max. I just adored the scenes with him and the boy. I also really liked his and Abbey’s scenes. They really shared something special from the start. Can she get him away from work and make him see other things?! That was the question now and Jenny made this journey really gripping, sweet and magical.

I really really liked Nick. Yes, he seemed quiet and work focused in the beginning, but opened up and was this sweet, caring and gorgeous man!!! Hello book boyfriend ;)

The story was told from Abbey’s POV and that was wonderful, her feelings and emotions came across really well. There was still enough space for Nick and Max to get their parts as well. All the characters, not only the three of them seemed so authentic and real, such a great bunch of people. Abbey’s grandfather and Nick’s grandmother added another sweet charm to the story and I have to say I really liked Robin, Nick’s sister.

I was really happy when I saw Carrie’s name pop up in the story. I really loved her story last year, so it was fab to read about her again.

Another FABULOUS and REMARKABLE book by Jenny Hale! Full of love, life lessons, friendship, wishes, dreams, passion, magical moments and more! Jenny’s writing style is unique, touching and very emotional. She created a festive, feel good and amazing story that engages you from the start and makes you never want to leave these wonderful characters again. I still have a smile on my face thinking about the story and I will really miss them all.
