In this book we find ourselves back in Luna
Bay, which is fab, because I loved the place in Lynsey’s second book The Broken
Hearts Book Club. This one can be read as a standalone, but it’s actually nice
to read about the main characters of The Broken Hearts Book Club again,
especially, because their story kind of continued in this one and it’s lovely
to catch up on them.
Anyway, let get to the point and talk about
the actual story. It follows Emily, who doesn’t get the long awaited promotion
and then her parents throw a bomb on her, by telling her that her dad isn’t her
biological dad. Her world is turned upside down.
Work and the possibility of still getting a
promotion get her to Luna Bay, that’s also where her biological dad used to
live, so she goes on this adventure.
Misunderstandings about her plans with
Sunflower Cottage don’t offer a great start with Noah. He is very rude and
tries to show her that as well. The two of them grow closer, however, when they
both care for cottage owner Rose and start the breakfast club together. For me
the change between the rocky relationship and the being nice and lovely to each
other didn’t really work. It didn’t flow, but I have to say, the sparks between
them are definitely there and I was actually only waiting for something to
happen between them. I guess, I just expected it in a different way. Their
feelings become really obvious, but then they had the knowledge of her leaving.
They way that topic was treated wasn’t my taste at all. It got repeated many
times and I somehow just didn’t understand Emily and her way of thinking. That’s
why I struggled with some of her actions and decisions.
I really adored the scenes between her and
Noah though and I loved reading about Jake and Lucy again. There were also some
other lovely characters and I think they built a great bunch.
There was still the thing with Emily’s
biological dad that actually added another element to the story. It adds drama
and more emotions.
Of course this book needs some misunderstandings,
drama next to some romantic scenes and a wonderful setting. Luna Bay is just
great. This story is full of heart and I enjoyed every second of it. It’s
funny, light hearted, sweet and cute. I’m really excited for book 3 in the
series already.

About Lynsey James
Lynsey James was born in Fife in 1991 and has been telling people how to spell her name ever since. She's an incurable bookworm who loves nothing more than getting lost in a good story with memorable characters. She started writing when she was really young and credits her lovely Grandad- and possibly a bump on the head from a Mr Frosty machine- with her love of telling stories.
